KEIKI MENTORSHIP

Supporting keiki to find their uniquely intuitive flow in the Ocean and in life.

Areas of Focus

Breakdown Of A Typical Session

Each mentorship is entirely catered to the keiki. I will make accommodation to ensure the safety and comfort of participants.

"Time with Auntie Jess"

Caretakers will drop off keiki at a designate space on the beach, settling them in to support with the transition. Any reminders/updates will be discussed between us three.

Examples:

"Remember that last week you learned to kick more with your legs."

"Here are your goggles if your eyes sting in the salt water."

"Sue had a tough day at school today with her friends. I'm sure playing in the Ocean is gonna help her a lot!"

Green Coral and Fish

Available Programs

A sustainable model that brings Ocean Mentorship to a vast range of keiki with diverse backgrounds, needs, and resources.

One-On-One Mentorship

3-6 Months

1.5-2 Hour Weekly Practices

This mentorship is especially supportive with learning how to ask for help, practicing self-regulation, identifying and nurturing unique aspects of one's True Nature, etc.

Year-long Mentorship

For lifelong character building skills

8-hours/week

This mentorship is a commitment to the keiki's socio-emotional and spiritual development. 2 of the 8 hours are devoted to a typical Ocean Mentorship session as described above. The remaining 6 hours are meant to be a broad spectrum educational and relational opportunity. Jess will design a full day of activities that are informed by the keiki's interests. Consider it a weekly educational field trip. Any additional expenses will be pre-approved by the keiki's caretakers. Jess will provide pick-up and drop-off as well as all transportation throughout the day.

Multiple Keiki Mentorship

3-6 Months

1.5-2 Hour Weekly Practices

For family units that desire to provide their keiki with a fun extra-curricular activity that will support with character building as well as practical skills in the Ocean.

Sponsor a Keiki in Need

8-hours/week

Sponsors do not select keiki

This mentorship is offered to a kanaka maoli keiki with behavioral, emotional, linguistic, cognitive, or physical limitations who do not have access to financial support that would provide them with a healthy outlet for expression. Jess will work directly with their school instructors and caretakers as much as appropriate to support with this keiki's development.

There are many reasons why you and your keiki will want to participate in this mentorship with Jess specifically. Read the ABOUT ME page to get to know your mentor.

Requirements

Parents/Caretakers must read, sign, and comply with the liability waiver and agreements document, which addresses logistics and safety.

It is NOT required that keiki know how to swim, however please note, this offering is much more thorough than swimming lessons. If all you want is for your keiki to learn how to swim, this mentorship is not for you.

Age Ranges

  • 4-6 year olds

    • Caretakers stay on beach but out of sight. Walkie talkies are used to communicate if need be.

  • 7+ year olds

    • Caretakers are highly encouraged to drop-off keiki and return for pick-up
